A family passionate about the Alps

I’m Steve, and over 20 years ago my wife Eleanor and I founded Bike-Alp in the town of Samoëns in the northern French Alps. For 10 years, we ran MTB holidays here, riding the best the area had to offer: the wilderness of the Grand Massif, the park lines of nearby Les Gets and Morzine, and the incredible vistas of the Chamonix Valley.

After a happy and successful time there, I was given the opportunity to write a guidebook to the Western Alps—you can find it here.

The book took me all across the Alps, riding everywhere I could think of that offered lift or uplift access. It was an amazing experience, and was such a success that it led to a guardian article, where I talk about my favourite spots from my travels. Read it here.

After riding and reviewing practically everything the high Alps had to offer, we simply had to make the move to Briançon, which is home to by far the best big-mountain trail network I’ve ever seen. Briançon itself is pretty awesome too—officially one of the highest cities in the Alps and a proper buzzing Alpine hub. With a huge number of bars, restaurants, ski lifts and shops, it’s a far cry from the small seasonal ski villages you might be used to in the Alps. And with a stunning walled citadel, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site too.

Come and experience it for yourself—it really is an incredible place!

More than a holiday

A lifetime in the Alps

I've been riding the Alps for as long as I can remember, almost 25 years now. Everywhere from the northern Alps, Switzerland, Italy, southern Alps and the coastal ranges on the Mediterranean. It's taken me through countless laps (and beers) in the Portes du Soleil, the heights of Zermatt, the lows of injuries and many hours lost on a ridgeline somewhere. Our current location in Briançon is without a doubt the best area I've ever ridden, and I'm keen to show it to as many of you as possible!
